At Icescape, we specialise in delivering exceptional temporary real ice rinks that combine innovative technology, operational expertise, and unforgettable visitor experiences. With years of industry knowledge behind us, we are proud to be recognised as leaders in the design, installation, and management of high-quality real ice solutions across a wide range of venues and environments. We pride ourselves on providing the highest standard in skating experiences no matter the size or location of the rink.
We design and install ice rinks in virtually any size or layout to suit your space. Thanks to our advanced aluminium rink system and highly efficient freezing process, our rinks consume significantly less energy while maintaining exceptional ice quality. From bustling city centres and shopping destinations, film & TV events, and festive attractions, we transform spaces into vibrant skating experiences that captivate audiences and drive footfall.
We often get asked questions about how our temporary ice rinks work:
‘Are your ice rinks made of real ice?’
‘How do you transport and set up the ice rink?’
‘How long does it take to install and freeze?’
At Icescape we use our own unique ice system which has been specifically designed for its rapid deployment and quick-freezing properties. Our bespoke aluminium piping design is the most energy efficient system on the market and it comes in folded sections so it is easily transported and installed. The aluminium elements are made up of 1m wide and 5m long sections. These can be made to any lengths, to create an ice rink any size, big or small.
Ensuring, that you have enough power on site and a water supply, liquid glycol refrigerant is pumped around the system from the buffer tank. Using low footprint chillers the system is refrigerated to the required temperature.
The ice pad is then flooded with water to form the first layer of ice. Then this process is repeated until the combined layers are thick enough to provide a high quality smooth ice skating surface for your rink. Side barriers are fitted during the process to complete the rink providing a secure, attractive and practical skating venue.
Typically it will take 2-3 days to build the ice rink and then a further 36-72 hours to freeze the water, but this will depend on the size and construction of each ice rink. Our foldable temporary ice rink elements can be installed in pretty much any location and is easy to assemble and dismantled.
When our ice rinks are dismantled after an event, all harmful fluids are drained and collected ready for re-use further enhancing our commitment to sustainability and the environment.
Ambient weather conditions can obviously change significantly and with this in mind, our system has been created to avoid as many potential issues as possible. Our rapid freezing technology means that our rinks dry out more quickly, making them more likely to stay open and operate during bad weather. This is of course extremely important when it comes to turnover and profit.
Working closely with our parent company, Danco, we have access to a wide range of stylish, award-winning temporary structures and innovative flooring systems. This partnership gives us a significant advantage, allowing us to create complete ice rink environments in almost any location.
Rink sizes can be tailored to suit your available space and budget. As a guide, a 10m x 30m (300m²) rink can comfortably accommodate up to 100 skaters per session, while a larger 1,000m² rink can host up to 330 skaters per session. Whatever the scale, we design each installation following industry guidelines to maximise capacity, flow, and visitor enjoyment while maintaining the highest safety standards.
With demand for real ice rinks continuing to grow, choosing the right partner has never been more important. At Icescape, we are committed to delivering exceptional quality, professional execution, and an outstanding skating experience.
