What is the ballpark figure on how much it costs for ice rink hire?
The cost of installation depends on a variety of factors which include the size of the rink and rental duration and whether we provide full management facilities or you manage it yourself.
The rental costs range from £35,000 to over £100,000 and we would be happy to provide you with a detailed quote once your needs have been identified.
How long does it take to set up an ice rink?
It depends on the size and construction of the rink. Typically it will take 2 to 3 days to build and set up and freezing the water takes a further 12 to 24 hours.
What are the sizes of ice rinks you offer?
The average ice rink is 600m2 but there are smaller and larger sizes available. We can provide flexible solutions depending on your requirements.
What type of ice rinks do you offer?
All of our rinks offer real ice making technology, not synthetic. These high quality rinks have comparatively short assembly and dismantling times together with rapid ice formation. They also have the advantage of maintaining a good ice surface in poor weather conditions.
Are your ice rinks only available during traditional seasonal periods?
Our ice rinks are available all year round and we have provided rinks for customers in the Spring and Summer as well as the traditional winter period.
Are ice rinks only available for skating?
Ice rinks can also be used for ice hockey, as a longer distance ‘ice-track’, or as an ice slide. We have even provided rinks for TV adverts.
What do you offer as part of the package?
We offer tailored packages including: Theming and decoration, chalets, pavilions, resurfacers, skates and aids… even food and beverage.
What are the commercial benefits of having an ice rink?
Ice rinks will increase footfall, dwell time and they provide an opportunity for income from concession stalls and seasonal markets, acting as a differentiator between you and your competitors. While the commercial success of an ice rink should not be taken for granted they can be extremely profitable providing they follow a good commercial model. Can we manage the ice rink ourselves?
Yes. We can provide all of your staffing needs, including first aiders. Or we have a unique training programme enabling your staff to successfully manage the rink.
Are your ice rinks suitable indoors and outdoors?
Yes, our rinks are suitable for any location. We have built a rink on a roof top before although the practicality and success of any venue is highly dependent on the suitability of the structure and access.
What skating aids can you offer?
We offer the exclusive Bobby the Seal skate aid, which allows learners and less confident skaters to have something to lean against or sit on and enjoy the ice experience.
Is skating suitable for families?
Absolutely. Skating itself is a fun activity for all the family but an ice rink affords the opportunity for others to participate too, whether they’re watching the skating, eating in the café or shopping around the rink area.
How many people can I have on the ice rink at any one time?
It depends on the size of the rink, but you need to allow approximately 3m2 per person, on a 600m2 rink youcould have up to 200 skaters.
How long should each skating session last?
They can be as long as you like, but we generally recommend 45 minute sessions with a 15 minute break between each session.
How much can I charge per skating session?
It varies according to your location and the size of the rink. You may also want to consider offering an off peak and peak time rates, typically we see people charging anything between £5 and £15 for a 45 minute session.
What is required to build an ice rink?
You will require sufficient space, an adequate power supply for the chiller units, a local water supply and adequate access for plant and machinery to build the rink. Ideally any site needs to be relatively level, we will then build a platform to make it completely level. It is possible to build an ice rink on a sloping site but the greater the slope the more equipment will be required and therefore will increase the cost.
Do you need access to water onsite to build an ice rink?
Yes. Arrangements should also be made with your water supplier before installation.
What maintenance do you provide for the ice rink surface?
We provide manual snow scrapers for maintenance of ice rinks up to 600m2 and can also supply motorisedre-surfacers for larger rinks.
Can I turn the ice rink on/off?
No. To maintain the ice in perfect condition, the rink must be on continuously until it is time for it to be dismantled.
Are your ice rinks only available in the UK?
No. We mainly provide ice rinks in the UK and Ireland but we can provide rinks in countries further afield.
Are your ice rinks available for sale as well as hire?
No, sorry, we only rent them.
