As our rinks are now all fully installed and skaters from all over the country are flocking to the ice to don their skates, we will be posting a feature on each of our clients over the coming weeks.
First up is the very impressive Bluewater Ice Rink in Kent, we are proud to say that it’s officially open for business!
Woolly hats for Winter
The winter season is most definitely upon us, meaning family festivities and general excitement for Christmas are well under way. Think woolly hats, leg warmers and a warming cup of mulled wine …
Our generous 595 sqm rink at Bluewater is covered with 25m wide transparent roof panels, provided by the team at Danco Plc meaning customers can skate the day away whatever the weather! Well recommended in the good old UK climate.
The rink itself is located lakeside, outside the West Village and our new alpine cabins have been assembled for the traders to refreshments, including freshly made waffles, a great way to refuel after a while on the ice!
All that twinkles …
Alongside the Christmas snowflakes hanging from the ceiling and the elegant icicle lights covering the perimeter of the 1000 sqm plus temporary structure, it all ties together to create a wonderfully festive atmosphere.
The rink itself is 45m in length on a weighted suspended floor system as you can see by the images, it looks fantastic! Plenty of room to get up some speed.
Professional ice installers
We provided screening to hide the chilling equipment, and bespoke ramping systems to allow safe and easy customer access to the rink.
Our specialist equipment ensures we remain at the highest standard in skating experiences at any location. We pride ourselves on giving all customers who visit our rinks the best experience possible, and Bluewater is no exception.
Bluewater Ice Rink is open from Thursday 17th November until Monday 2nd January. Don’t forget a trip to Santa’s Grotto!
The title of the blog isn’t meant to fill you with sad thoughts about cold temperatures and blustery winds, but with positive ones about toasted marshmallows, colourful leg warmers and an open fire! Not to mention the ‘Frozen’ fancy dress that isn’t ever allowed to be put away, whatever the weather!
Spring clean before Winter
We certainly aren’t wishing away the summer months, but as the team at Icescape Ltd clean, repair and label all of the elements that go in to our real ice rinks, ready for the Winter season – we can’t help but look ahead and get excited about this year’s festive fun.
We’ll forgive you for not being able to imagine these stacks of equipment turning in to frost covered real ice rinks, waiting for eager families to don their skates and scarves before stepping confidently on to the ice! (Then grabbing a well earned hot chocolate afterwards to calm the nerves!) But it just goes to show that work never stops at Icescape and our rinks are kept in fantastic condition year round!
On a clear and frosty morning, as the last few white Icescape lorries park up to unload all the equipment necessary for installing our real ice skating rinks, a flash back to the last few months of imaginative skating styles, ice and impressive Winter Wonderlands!
Firstly, Happy New year form all at Icescape! A tad delayed, granted, but we have been busy travelling the country to dismantle over 20 ice rinks. Not to forget the multiple marquees, with the help of Danco Plc.
Our Icescape skating rinks were in some eye catching locations (pun intended). You would have seen us at The London Eye, The Mall at Cribbs Causeway, Longleat House, Weymouth, Royal Tunbridge Wells, Frosts Garden Centres and Reading to name just a few.
Please see our gallery below for some pictures of the 2015/16 Winter season, if you are thinking of adding an ice rink to your Winter Wonderland or Christmas event later this year then get in touch early! Email firstname.lastname@example.org for a quote, our real ice technology is in high demand …
For just over 7 weeks, the Frostival experience at The London Eye is open to everyone seeking some icy excitement, including celebrities such as Ella Eyre, Alexandra Burke and the majority of the Made in Chelsea cast!
The team at Icescape put a lot of hard work in to installing the real ice rink and our friends at Danco Plc provided six 6m temporary structures with custom made brown roofs to house the reception desks and boot hire. They also installed clear panel solid walls across some of the marquee frontages to ensure a warm and snug interior for the skaters.
The timber fascias and branded gables were then manufactured specifically for Frostival and built around Danco’s marquees to give the appearance of Alpine ski chalets, let’s hope for some actual snow to really set the scene!
Skaters of all ages and abilities will be welcome to glide, slide or perhaps just cling on to the side. It all takes place in the open air as The London Eye turns majestically above it, with the bright lights of the South Bank and the giant Christmas tree twinkling all around. A very festive experience awaits and there is more information on The London Eye website.

In case you hadn’t noticed as you wander around sunny Bristol, or watch the news, there has been an increase in the animal population of Bristol recently! From 6th July to 31st August, 70 b-ewe-tiful giant Shaun the Sheep sculptures, created by artists, designers and celebrities, have been positioned in iconic locations and green spaces across Bristol for the public to enjoy. Shaun in the City have orchestrated this family friendly initiative and the all the information, including where to find them, is on their website.
As a West Country based business, the team at Icescape recognised the importance of supporting the local community & charity by sponsoring our yellow, crystal encrusted Shaun. Bee-dazzled, as she is affectionately known, is located near the food court in The Mall at Cribbs Causeway and has already attracted a flurry of fans taking photos of her sparkly face!
The flocks of Shauns will go to auction later in the year, with funds raised from the 70 Bristol sculptures going to The Grand Appeal, the Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity and funds raised from the 50 London sculptures benefitting Wallace & Gromit’s Children’s Charity, supporting children in hospitals across the UK. What a worthwhile cause and something we are incredibly proud to be part of.
Anyway, enough bleating on (pun intended), please share your pictures of bee-dazzled on our twitter page @icescapeltd so we can see her making friends and most importantly, enjoy the last few weeks of the trail …
Our rinks performed extremely well on the run up to Christmas with the surprisingly high ambient temperatures felt throughout the U.K. proving that “real ice” is definitely the way forward in skating experiences. Our thanks also go to our clients; without whom so many people would not have been able to enjoy such memorable skating experiences……….. Continue reading →
